Postgraduate study in physiotherapy

The physiotherapy subject area at 无码群交 sits within our Division of Dietetics, Nutrition, Biological Sciences, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Radiography (DNBSPPR), which has extensive expertise in allied health professional education, as well as in the public health, community, and voluntary sectors.

We are a small department that offers students a small and friendly community environment. We constantly update our teaching based on research which is designed to meet the changing needs of students, employers and society. Collaborations with clinicians are translated into dissertation projects that offers students (undergraduate and postgraduate) real world application of academic knowledge.

Our MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-Registration) is a full-time two-year course for graduates who wish to continue their education to master鈥檚 level to become qualified practitioners in physiotherapy.

Post-registration study is for those who are already qualified practitioners and who want to extend and develop their knowledge and skills in more depth. Within our Advancing Professional Practice Framework we offer an MSc Advancing Practice in Physiotherapy and an MSc Advancing Practice in Musculoskeletal Medicine.

Student-centred learning and teaching

  • Students are central to our teaching philosophy, and we aim to enhance every aspect of their learning and academic experience.
  • We recognise that postgraduate students bring valuable knowledge, skills and experience from previous study and professional practice, enriching both their own learning and that of their peers.
  • With staff guidance and the use of learning contracts, students are expected to take responsibility for their learning, fostering critical, creative and innovative thinking.
  • Our diverse student community, drawn from across the globe, encourages rich discussion of health-related issues and perspectives.
  • Courses are reviewed regularly to ensure they reflect developments in professional practice, healthcare policy and the evolving needs of the sector.
  • All students undertake an independent research project under staff supervision as the culmination of their studies. Pre-registration students often choose practice-based topics aligned with staff research interests, while post-registration students typically focus on issues relevant to their own clinical settings. Many students have gone on to present their dissertation findings at national and international conferences, demonstrating the quality and impact of their research.
